In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Manchester United have identified Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye as a target. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils are eyeing a move to bring the Senegalese talent to Old Trafford this summer.
Gueye’s Impressive Form In Spanish Football
Gueye has enjoyed a decent run of form at the Spanish club this season as he has put in a series of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The 27-year-old has registered four goals and picked up a couple of assists in 32 appearances for Villarreal in this campaign across all competitions.
The Senegalese talent is currently among the best central midfielders in La Liga. Therefore, the Red Devils would do well to bring him on board later this year.
His current contract at the Spanish club will expire in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Man United to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Should Manchester United Boss Michael Carrick Go For Pape Gueye?
Gueye is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his side inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and is a decent passer as well.
The Senegalese sensation can chip in by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team from midfield. Standing at 1.89m, Gueye is a strong presence in the air. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if Man United manage to bring him on board this off-season.
We can expect Gueye to add more quality and depth to Michael Carrick’s midfield in the long run. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club in the coming years.
At 27, Gueye has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Red Devils to pursue at the end of this campaign. All in all, Carrick would be wise to go for a player of his skill set as he would help the Red Devils compete across all fronts over the next few years.
