In a recent report, The Northern Echo (subscription required) stated that Sunderland youngster Finn Geragusyan is on the radar of Rangers. It is understood that both the Gers and Nottingham Forest are showing interest in signing the Armenian striker from the Black Cats this summer.
Geragusyan’s Impressive Rise In English Football
Geragusyan has come through the youth ranks of the Wearside club and has done well to establish himself as an important member of their Under-21 team. The 18-year-old has banged in ten goals and grabbed six assists in 34 matches for Sunderland’s U-21 side so far across multiple competitions.
The talented teenager is currently among the most gifted forwards in English football. Thus, the Black Cats might struggle to fend off interest from Rangers and Nottingham, and keep hold of him beyond this summer.
His current deal at the Stadium of Light will expire at the end of this campaign. Hence, Sunderland would have no choice but to let him go if they fail to agree on a new contract.

Should Sunderland Boss Regis Le Bris Cut Geragusyan Loose This Summer?
Geragusyan can engineer a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. Geragusyan is primarily a centre-forward but can also function as a right-winger if asked to do so.
The Armenian talent has proven his worth as a decent goal-scorer in the youth ranks of English football. However, he is still quite raw and would need some time to be ready for first-team football.
Geragusyan is on the verge of breaking out into Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris’ senior team. Hence, the Black Cats would be wise to focus on tying him down to a new long-term deal.
Another option for them would be to let him go on a free transfer this summer and focus on bringing a suitable replacement to bolster their academy. Still, the wiser choice for Sunderland financially would be to not cut Geragusyan loose as he has the potential to be a future starter at the Stadium of Light.
