Newcastle United Star Ready To Leave For Manchester City: The Plan Of Action For The Magpies?

Keith Wyness, the former chief at Everton, recently spoke to Football Insider. He revealed that Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento firmly wants a move to Manchester City. The Magpies’ management clearly intends to keep their talented defender at St James’ Park. Even so, Wyness insists that the player has already set his sights on the move. He expects the transfer to happen during the summer window instead of in January.

Livramento’s summer exit strategy is a major blow for Newcastle United

Livramento originally came through Chelsea’s academy and later made a name for himself at Southampton. Since then, the 23-year-old has proven he belongs as a top-tier Premier League prospect. This explains why Manchester City are now chasing the English full-back with such confidence.

Wyness pointed out that while Newcastle’s general situation is looking up on Tyneside, Eddie Howe has to start looking for a new right-back. Livramento’s exit looks more and more certain. The 23-year-old has played well for Newcastle week in and week out, but the chance to play at the Etihad seems more tempting than staying put.

So, the club have the tough job of replacing a star player. Livramento has become a key part of their defence. Wyness noted that he doesn’t have the exact details on the contract clauses, but he is sure Livramento will leave. This leaves a gap that Newcastle’s recruitment team needs to fill before next season kicks off.

“Look, I know Newcastle would want to keep him, but I know that the player is definitely set on going to City, and I do expect that to happen, probably in the summer.

“I can’t remember his contract situation, but I would expect him to go to City in the summer. I don’t think he’ll go in January. I think that will be the case, but I do expect him to go, and I think that will be a loss for Newcastle.

“Newcastle will be looking to look in the marketplace because he’s been a bit of a star player for them. You know, things are starting to turn around slightly up there on Tyneside, but I do expect him to be one that Eddie Howe’s going to have to be looking for a replacement.”

Losing him would be a massive hit to Newcastle United’s long-term goals. Livramento offers a rare combination of pace and skill that fits perfectly into Eddie Howe’s system. On top of that, selling a rising star to a big rival sends a bad message. This definitely has the power to hurt morale in the dressing room.

To make up for this loss, the bosses need to go after a proven replacement right away. This player has to be ready for the physical grind of European football. Newcastle United should put aside a good chunk of cash for a top-class full-back and start talks early. This will stop them from making a desperate, last-minute signing that could ruin the team’s preparation for the new season.
