Manchester City Are Eager To Recruit This Crystal Palace Defender: Dream Choice For Pep?

In a recent report, BBC Sport mentioned that Manchester City are eager to recruit Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. It has been claimed that the Mancunian giants are eyeing a move to bring the English centre-back to the Etihad Stadium this month.

Guehi’s Impressive Form In English Football

Guehi is having an excellent campaign at the London club after he produced a series of solid performances for them on the defensive end of the pitch. The English talent has played in 31 matches for Crystal Palace this season, scoring three times and earning four assists across various competitions.

The 25-year-old has been a rock at the back for the Eagles as he has made 29 tackles, 16 blocks, 25 interceptions and 101 clearances in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from inside his half, based on his pass completion rate of 84.2% in the English first division (stats via fbref.com).

His current deal at Selhurst Park will run out at the end of this campaign. Hence, Man City could potentially land him on a cut-price deal this month or on a free transfer next summer.

Will Guehi Be A Dream Choice For Manchester City?

Guehi is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his side inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and excels at playing his out from the back.

The English sensation has proven his worth as a consistent performer in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Mancunian club. We can expect him to add a lot of quality to Man City head coach Pep Guardiola’s defence.

Guehi is more than capable of securing a regular first-team spot at the Etihad Stadium in the coming years. He might even help Man City compete for some major honours in the future.

At 25, Guehi has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a dream choice for the Mancunian outfit to consider this January or next summer. He is more than capable of competing with Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake for a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club.
