In a recent segment with DAZN, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned that Liverpool are in the race to land Olympique Rennais defender Jeremy Jacquet. Romano said,
“It’s a crazy battle for the player. Save the battle because Jeremy Jacquet is probably one of the most talented defenders in the world.
“Chelsea remain involved in the race for Jeremy Jacquet. There are conversations ongoing, advancing well on the player’s side but still no green light from Rennes. Rennes insists to keep the player now, sell him now for the summer, so this could be the solution.
“Chelsea are in the mix, for sure. But Liverpool are calling, Liverpool are part of the conversation for Jeremy Jacquet. Liverpool are part of this race to sign Jeremy Jacquet and Bayern as well because in the summer, there is Kim Min-Jae who eventually leaves. So Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern are all involved and let’s see what the player will decide to do and what Rennes will decide to do because they want up to €70 million. I think this will be one of the big stories in the next days or even weeks because this deal could be agreed even after the closing of the transfer window.”
Jacquet’s Impressive Form In French Football
Jacquet is having a solid campaign at the French club as he has produced a series of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 20-year-old has made 18 appearances for Rennes this season across all fronts.

What Will Jacquet Bring To Liverpool?
Jacquet is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and excels at playing his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.90m, the French talent can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Reds manage to bring him on board this year.
We can expect Jacquet to bring more bite and steel to Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s defence. He is more than capable of fighting for a regular first-team football at the Merseyside club in the future.
At 20, the future looks quite bright for Jacquet as long as he continues to improve with each season. Therefore, Slot should focus on snapping him up soon.
