Liverpool Are Eyeing A Move For This Borussia Dortmund Talent: Good Choice For Slot?

In a recent report, Absolut Fussball claimed that Liverpool are eyeing a move for Borussia Dortmund talent Julian Ryerson. It has been mentioned that the Reds are eager to get a deal done for the Norwegian defender this year, following Conor Bradley’s long-term injury recently.

Ryerson’s Impressive Form In German Football

Ryerson is having a decent campaign at the German club as he has put in a string of impressive displays on the right side of their defence. The 28-year-old has picked up six assists in 22 matches for Borussia Dortmund this season on all fronts.

The Norwegian talent has given a good account of himself on the right flank and deserves credit for making 19 tackles, six blocks, eight interceptions and 19 clearances in the Bundesliga. He has even distributed the ball well based on his pass success rate of 77.2% in league football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for the Reds to sign him on the cheap this year.

Will Ryerson Be A Good Choice For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot?

Ryerson is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.

Standing at 1.83m, the Norwegian talent can use his robust frame to win the odd aerial duel for his team. However, it remains to be seen whether he can adapt to the high intensity of the Premier League if the Reds manage to get him on board this January or at the end of this campaign.

Ryerson would bring more quality and depth to Arne Slot’s defence. He is good enough to serve as an ideal replacement for Conor Bradley, who is set to miss the remainder of this campaign due to a serious injury.

At 28, Ryerson is playing in his prime, which makes him a decent choice for the Merseyside club to consider this year. However, Slot has to give him some time to settle into life at the Merseyside club before he can get the best out of the player.
