David Moyes Plotting Raid Of West Ham United Forward: Why The Hammers Should Let Him Leave?

David Moyes has reportedly set his sights on Callum Wilson, West Ham United’s veteran striker. He sees Wilson as the best way to fix Everton’s struggle to find the back of the net. The Athletic broke the story this week, reporting that Moyes plans to raid his old club at the London Stadium.

David Moyes Targets Callum Wilson of West Ham United to Solve Everton’s Scoring Slump

He wants to strengthen the Toffees’ dull attack before the January window closes. Wilson joined West Ham on a free transfer last summer, but he hasn’t been part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s main plans. The English striker has struggled to secure a regular starting spot in East London.

Things at Goodison Park need to change fast. Everton’s forwards haven’t performed all season, and Beto has really struggled to score with any regularity. So, Moyes might think of Wilson as the perfect short-term answer.

He is a proven Premier League goal-getter who won’t need time to get used to the league. According to The Athletic, West Ham are not likely to stand in the way of a move as long as Everton make a fair offer. Nuno Espirito Santo has already brought in Taty Castellanos and the Brazilian forward Pablo this month.

These new faces mean Wilson is even further out of the picture. The 33-year-old forward reportedly wants to play every week at this point in his career. It is something the Merseyside club seem happy to offer.

A Move That Works for Everyone

West Ham should take this chance to move on a player they don’t really need. Keeping Wilson doesn’t make much sense for their budget or their tactics, especially since Nuno clearly prefers his new signings.

The manager has rebuilt his front line with younger, faster players like Castellanos and Pablo, leaving Wilson to mostly watch from the bench. By selling him now, the Hammers can lower their wage bill and maybe even get a decent fee for a player they got for free just six months ago.

For Everton, this gamble has its risks, but the reward could be huge. Moyes usually trusts experienced players over young prospects when he is in a relegation scrap, and Wilson fits that mould. There is no doubt he can score at this level if he stays fit.

People might worry about how long Wilson’s body will hold up, but the Toffees don’t need a player for the next five years. They need goals right now to stay in the Premier League. Wilson has the scoring instinct that Everton’s current strikers lack. If Moyes can get even 12 games out of him before May, the move will be worth the money. Both clubs want the same thing here, so a deal looks very likely.
