In a recent post on X, journalist Renan Moura mentioned that Chelsea could join the chase for West Ham United playmaker Lucas Paqueta. It has been stated that the Blues could rival Flamengo in the race to land the Brazilian talent his year.
Paqueta’s Impressive Form In English Football
The 28-year-old has proven his worth as a decent performer for the Hammers this season as he has put in a string of impressive displays for them in the final third. Paqueta has banged in five goals and earned one assist in 19 appearances for West Ham in this campaign so far across all fronts.
The Brazilian attacker has caught the eye at times inside the opponent’s half and has done well to average 1.25 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has kept 42.9% of his attempts on target. Paqueta has even been tidy with his ball distribution after completing 74.2% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at West Ham will run out in the summer of 2027, which could open the door for the Blues to sign him on the cheap at the end of this campaign.

Should Chelsea Boss Liam Rosenior Go For Paqueta?
Paqueta is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some driving runs with it out in the wide areas. He has got the vision to create a few promising chances for others around him in and around the opponent’s penalty area.
The Brazilian talent can shoot the ball with venom from long range. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Chelsea.
Paqueta would no doubt enhance the quality of Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior’s attack. He is good enough to compete for regular first-team football at Stamford Bridge.
At 28, Paqueta has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the West London giants to pursue this January or at the end of this season. All in all, Rosenior would be wise to go for a player of his quality and experience this year.
