Aston Villa entertained Everton at Villa Park earlier this evening as they hoped to secure a good result at home in the Premier League. The Villans made a bright start to the game but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time break.
Theirno Barry scored the opening goal in the 59th minute. Unai Emery’s men failed to come up with a response and crashed to a poor 1-0 loss in front of their home fans.

GK: Emiliano Martinez – 6/10
He made a few solid saves at the back but failed to keep a clean sheet this evening.
RB: Matty Cash – 7/10
Cash did his fair share of defending and was a threat going forward.
CB: Ezri Konsa – 6.5/10
He performed his defensive duties well, but there was no clean sheet for him.
CB: Pau Torres – 5.5/10
Torres looked a bit shaky at the back, but was a strong presence in the air.

LB: Ian Maatsen – 6.5/10
Maatsen engineered a few key chances for his teammates from the left flank.
CM: Lamare Bogarde – 6/10
He anchored the midfield well but struggled to influence the game in the final third.
CM: Youri Tielemans – 7/10
Tielemans was a positive influence at both ends of the field.
RW: John McGinn – 6/10
He made a slow start to the game and had to be replaced in the 17th minute.
CAM: Morgan Rogers – 6.5/10
Rogers made two good chances in the final third and was not shy of having a strike at goal.
LW: Emiliano Buendia – 6.5/10
He caught the eye at times in the final third, but there was no goal for him.
ST: Ollie Watkins – 6/10
Watkins worked hard but never looked like he would score.

He was a real threat on the right flank and was unfortunate the hit the crossbar.
LB: Lucas Digne – 6/10
He was a threat going forward.
CM: George Hemmings – 6/10
Hemmings added some energy to Emery’s midfield.
