Rangers have revived under Danny Rohl, who has brought them within three points of their Celtic. They could climb up to second with an Old Firm win at Parkhead on Saturday afternoon; however, it won’t be a stroll in the park on the road, even though the champions have lost five of their last seven fixtures since Wilfried Nancy was appointed as the Celts’ boss.
The Glasgow giants have locked horns twice already this season. The reverse tie at Ibrox finished in a stalemate back in August, whereas the ten-man Gers suffered an extra-time heartbreak in the League Cup semifinal. They must aim for revenge this weekend, capitalising on the Hoops’ frailty in the defensive third.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Rangers Lineup To Face Celtic
Defence
Jack Butland was self-critical of his mistake against Hearts during Rangers‘ defeat at Tynecastle. But the veteran custodian showed his mettle with Motherwell by grabbing a clean sheet, followed by a decisive penalty save against St Mirren in their 2-1 victory. He needs to be at his prime tomorrow to frustrate the Bhoys.

Rohl switched to a ‘back four’ following their defeat against the Jambos, and the return of both John Souttar and Dujon Sterling from injury must have boosted the German chief amid the absences of Nasser Djiga and Derek Cornelius. Emmanuel Fernandez has been a revelation in deep defence, and the young centre-half should partner with Souttar, similar to the Buddies contest. Skipper James Tavernier must feature from the right. Also, Jayden Meghoma is expected to operate as a left-back with no other designated option available. Max Aarons could be brought in at some stage as the understudy to either fullback.
Midfield
Rangers are well equipped in the centre of the pitch, with Connor Barron, Mohamed Diomande and Nicolas Raskin being rotated as the ‘double pivot’. Barron should return to the starting XI and pair up with Raskin, replacing Diomande deep down the midfield.
Thelo Aasgaard has finally found the rhythm with goals in back-to-back games. He must exhibit his flair and creativity as a ‘number 10’, and the manager should stick with Djeidi Gassama and Mikey Moore down the wide, with Oliver Antman and Nedim Bajrami still sidelined with their respective injury problems. But they have Danilo and Findlay Curtis, who could be brought in as second-half substitutes.
