West Ham Lock Horns With Crystal Palace For 25-Year-Old Striker: Will The Hammers Get Him?

According to a recent report from Mike McGrath, West Ham United and Crystal Palace are both looking at Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. These clubs want to strengthen their attacking options during the upcoming January transfer window.

Jorgen Strand Larsen transfer saga:

Nuno Espirito Santo sees the tall Norwegian forward as a vital addition for his team. The Hammers really need new goalscorers to move away from the relegation zone. Although the East London club want to sign him to save a difficult campaign, they face tough competition from Crystal Palace.

Oliver Glasner’s side is having a much better season so far. Because of this, they see the 25-year-old as a great choice to improve their squad as they try to qualify for Europe.

Larsen first made a name for himself at Celta Vigo before moving to Molineux in the summer of 2024.

He joined on an initial loan, but Wolves later turned this into a permanent deal after his good performances. During his first Premier League season, the striker played well, scoring 14 goals and creating four assists in 35 games.

These numbers show he has the strength needed for English football. Even though Larsen hasn’t started this season perfectly, his past success keeps attracting plenty of interest. Other top-flight suitors definitely like his style of play and his scoring record.

West Ham specifically want a forward with plenty of physical strength to lead their attack. This player needs to work well in Nuno’s setup, but the high cost remains a big problem.

Wolves are in a strong position to negotiate. Larsen’s contract runs until the summer of 2030, and the club has already turned down a huge £55 million bid from Newcastle United.

Any club that wants him will have to offer a massive amount of money to convince Wolves to sell their main striker in the middle of the season.

Verdict: Should West Ham sign him?

West Ham should definitely try to get Larsen because he has already shown he can score in the Premier League. However, completing this deal looks very unlikely this winter. Wolves have no reason to sell a top player to a rival club unless they receive a crazy amount of money.

So, unless the Hammers offer a record-breaking fee, they probably won’t get him in January.
