Tottenham Hotspur Are Eyeing A Move For This Ajax Starlet: A Star In The Making?

In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Ajax starlet Mika Godts. It has been revealed that Spurs are keeping tabs on the progress of the Belgian winger ahead of a potential move for him next year.

Godts’ Impressive Rise In Dutch Football

Godts has enjoyed an impressive campaign at the Dutch club as he has put in a lot of productive displays for them in the final third. The 20-year-old has banged in seven goals and secured eight assists in 22 appearances for Ajax this season across multiple competitions.

The talented youngster has proven his worth in the final third and deserves credit for averaging 2.53 shots per 90 minutes in the Dutch Eredivisie. He has kept 48.5% of his attempts on target. Godts has distributed possession relatively well in the opponent’s half after completing 74.5% of his attempted passes in the Dutch top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Amsterdam club will run out in the summer of 2029. Hence, it won’t be easy for Spurs to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.

Tottenham Hotspur Are Eyeing A Move For Godts: Is He A Star In The Making?

Godts is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs with it out on the flanks. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to create some decent chances in and around the opponent’s penalty area.

The talented teenager is primarily a left-winger but can also operate as a right-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if required. He has already added plenty of goals and assists to his game this season. However, only time will tell whether Godts can replicate his good form in the Premier League if Spurs manage to get a deal done for him next year.

Godts would add a lot of goals and creativity to Tottenham boss Thomas Frank’s needs in the long run. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming years.

At 20, Godts has got the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. He is undoubtedly a star in the making, so Frank would do well to lure him to North London next year.
