Serie A Midfielder Keen On Joining Manchester United Next Summer: Should Amorim Snap Him Up?

In a recent segment on  ASRomaLive’s Twitch channel, journalist Francesca Teodori stated that AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone is keen on joining Manchester United next summer. Teodori said, “It’s not news, but it’s a fairly credible rumour. I’ve been told by multiple sources that he’ll leave Roma in June and join Manchester United.

“I don’t know if this has anything to do with the Zirkzee deal. He might have been included as a sort of counterpart. This remains to be seen, but what’s certain is that Kone is very keen on the destination and it looks like he could join United in June.”

Kone’s Impressive Form In Italian Football This Season

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a good run of form at the Italian club this season as he has produced a series of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. Kone has picked up one assist in 21 matches for AS Roma in this campaign so far across all competitions.

The French talent has anchored the midfield with conviction and deserves credit for making 30 tackles, 13 blocks, ten interceptions and 14 clearances in Serie A. He has even distributed possession accurately from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 91.3% in the Italian top tier (stats via fbref.com)

Should Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Snap Kone Up?

Kone is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The French talent can even chip in by creating the odd chance for others around him in the final third. Kone is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also function as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if asked to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League.

Kone would add more bite and steel to Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s midfield. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club in the coming years.

At 24, Kone has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for Man United to pursue this January or at the end of this campaign. All in all, Amorim would be wise to snap him up in 2026.
