Real Madrid Are Eyeing A January Move For This Liverpool Superstar: Should Alonso Go For Him?

In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Real Madrid are eyeing a January move for Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah. It has been stated that Los Blancos are willing to take advantage of the Egyptian winger’s recent fallout with the Merseyside club by offering him an escape route in this winter transfer window.

Salah’s Recent Form In The Premier League

Salah has made a tough start to this campaign as he has struggled to find consistency for the reigning Premier League champions in the final third. Still, the 33-year-old deserves some credit for scoring five goals and securing three assists in 15 matches for the Reds this season across all competitions.

The Egyptian international has proven his worth at times in the final third by averaging 2.5 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he has only kept 29% of his attempts on target. Salah has also been a bit careless when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, based on his pass success rate of 68.6% in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Anfield will run out in the summer of 2027. However, he has fallen out of favour at the Merseyside club, which could open the door for Los Blancos to sign him on the cheap in the January transfer window.

Should Real Madrid Boss Xabi Alonso Go For Salah?

Salah is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to create a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. He can shoot the ball well from long range.

However, the Egyptian talent has struggled to find consistency in the Premier League this season. Furthermore, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga.

Still, on his day, Salah remains a match-winner. We can expect him to bring more firepower to Los Blancos head coach Xabi Alonso’s frontline. He is good enough to challenge for regular first-team football at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and could help Real Madrid compete for some major honours over the next few years.

At 33, Salah has entered the final stage of his playing career. Hence, he would be a good, short-term signing for the Madrid giants to consider this January. With all things considered, Alonso would be wise to go for a player of Salah’s experience next year.
