Liverpool Tabled a €70m bid For This Real Madrid Midfielder: A Good Choice For Slot?

In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Liverpool are showing interest in Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. It has been claimed that the Reds have tabled a €70m bid to acquire the services of the French talent next year.

Camavinga’s Impressive Form In La Liga

Camavinga has served as an important member of Xabi Alonso’s match-day squad this season and deserves credit for putting in a few impressive displays for them in La Liga. The 23-year-old has scored two goals and one assist in 16 appearances for Los Blancos this season across all competitions.

The French talent has given a good account of himself at the centre of the park as he has made 23 tackles, 11 blocks, four interceptions and nine clearances in La Liga. He has even distributed possession accurately from midfield after completing 91.8% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Spanish club will expire in the summer of 2029. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Reds to snap him up on a cut-price deal next year.

Is Camavinga A Good Choice For Liverpool?

Camavinga is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.

The French talent is a tidy passer of the ball, but needs to add more goals and assists to his game. Camavinga is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as a defensive midfielder or as a left-back if told to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Reds manage to get a deal done for him next year.

Camavinga would add more bite and steel to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s midfield department. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club in the coming years.

At 23, Camavinga has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Reds to consider this January or at the end of this campaign.
