Inter Milan Striker Is Open To Sealing A Move To Barcelona: Should Flick Go For Him?

In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez is open to sealing a move to Barcelona. It has been mentioned that the Argentine talent is looking for  a change of scenery next year and has offered himself to the Catalan club.

Martinez’s Impressive Form In Italian Football

Martinez has enjoyed a decent run of form at the Milan club as he has put in a string of impressive performances for them in the final third. The 28-year-old has banged in 11 goals and grabbed a couple of assists in 19 appearances for Inter this season across all fronts.

The Argentina international has proven himself to be a good contributor up top and deserves credit for averaging 3.93 shots per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he has only kept 26.1% of his attempts on target. Martinez has distributed the ball relatively well in the opponent’s half after completing 75.8% of his attempted passes in the Italian top flight (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the San Siro will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Barcelona to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.

Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Go For Martinez?

Martinez excels at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates to score and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Argentine sensation can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the final third. However, there are some question marks over whether he can replicate his good form in La Liga.

We can expect Martinez to enhance the quality of Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick’s attack. He is more than capable of earning a regular first-team place at the Nou Camp.

At 28, Martinez is playing in his prime, which makes him a decent option for the Catalan club to consider next year. He might even help Barca challenge for some major honours in the future. All in all, Flick should go for a top striker like Martinez as he would serve as an ideal successor to Robert Lewandowski at the Catalan club.
