Chelsea Identify This Barcelona Midfielder As A Target: Good Choice For Maresca?

In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Chelsea have identified Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado as a target. It has been mentioned that the Blues are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Spanish talent next year.

Casado’s Decent Form In La Liga

The 24-year-old has served as a decent squad player for the Catalan club and has managed to put in a few impressive displays for them in La Liga. Casado has made 15 appearances for Barca so far this season, securing one assist in the process across various competitions.

The Spanish midfielder has proven his worth at the centre of the park by making eight tackles, 12 blocks, five interceptions and five clearances in La Liga. He has also been tidy with his ball distribution after completing 92.4% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Nou Camp will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for the Blues to snap him up on the cheap next year.

Will Casado Be A Good Choice For Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca?

Casado loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his side inside his half. He usually clears his lines when required and is a good passer of the ball as well.

The Spanish sensation can chip in by securing the odd assist for his team, but needs to add more goals to his game. It remains to be seen whether he can adapt to the physical nature and high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to get him on board in 2026.

Casado would add more quality and depth to Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca’s midfield. He is more than capable of fighting for a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge in the coming years.

At 22, Casado has got the potential to be a future star in English football. Therefore, he would be a great choice for the West London giants to consider in the long run. With all things considered, Maresca would be wise to step up his efforts to land the Barcelona midfield ace this January or at the end of this campaign.
