In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Porto striker Samu Aghehowa. It has been claimed that the Catalan club have identified the Spanish forward as a transfer target for next year.
Aghehowa’s Impressive Form In Portuguese Football
The 21-year-old is having an impressive campaign in Portugal as he has produced a series of impressive displays for Porto in the final third. Aghehowa has banged in 16 goals and grabbed one assist in 23 matches for the Portuguese outfit this season across all competitions.
The Spanish talent has led the line well for the Portuguese club and deserves credit for averaging 3.93 shots per 90 minutes in Liga Portugal. He has kept 53.3% of his attempts on target. However, Aghehowa needs to improve his link-up play up top, based on his pass completion rate of 71.6% in the Portuguese top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Portuguese club will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Barcelona to sign him on the cheap next year.

What Will Aghehowa Bring To Barcelona?
Aghehowa is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has proven himself to be a decent finisher in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.
Standing at 1.93m, the Spanish talent can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition defenders in the air. However, only time will tell whether he can maintain his good form in La Liga if the Catalan giants manage to snap him up next year.
We can expect Aghehowa to bring more goals to Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick’s frontline. He is more than capable of fighting for regular first-team football at the Nou Camp in the coming years.
At 21, Aghehowa has got the potential to be a future star in La Liga as long as he continues to improve with each season. He is already quite familiar with Spanish football and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Barcelona. Aghehowa might even help the Catalan club compete for some major honours in the future. Thus, Flick would be wise to sign him next year.
