Manchester City Are In Pole Position To Sign This Real Madrid Winger This January: Good Fit For Pep?

In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Manchester City are in pole position to sign Real Madrid winger Rodrygo this January. It has been stated that the Mancunian giants are leading the race to acquire the services of the Brazilian wide player in this winter transfer window.

Rodrygo’s Recent Form In Spanish Football

Rodrygo has struggled to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Madrid club this season but has managed to shine at times in front of the opponent’s goal. The 24-year-old has secured a couple of assists in 13 matches for Los Blancos in this campaign so far on all fronts.

The Brazilian talent deserves some credit for averaging 3.45 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga and has kept 50% of his attempts on target. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball in the opposition half, based on his pass completion rate of 83.2% in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for Man City to sign him on the cheap next year.

Will Rodrygo Be A Good Fit For Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola?

Rodrygo is proficient at creating some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Brazilian sensation can be a consistent goal-getter up top when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field. Rodrygo is primarily a right-winger but can also operate as a left-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if asked to do so. However, it remains to be seen whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League.

We can expect Rodrygo to inject more firepower into Man City boss Pep Guardiola’s attack. He is good enough to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club.

At 24, Rodrygo has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a great fit for Guardiola’s needs in the long run. Thus, Man City would be wise to go all out to bring him on board this January.
