Manchester City Are Among The Clubs Hoping To Land This Borussia Dortmund Ace: Good Choice For Pep?

In a recent report, journalist Dean Jones stated that Manchester City are among the clubs hoping to land Borussia Dortmund ace Serhou Guirassy. It is believed that the Mancunian club would have to rival Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in pursuit of the Guinean forward next year.

Guirassy’s Impressive Form In The Bundesliga

Guirassy has put in a string of impressive displays for the German club on the offensive end of the field this season. The Guinean talent has participated in 15 matches for Borussia Dortmund in this campaign so far, scoring seven goals and earning four assists in various competitions.

The 29-year-old has caught the eye at times in the final third by averaging 2.86 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has kept 60% of his attempts on target. However, Guirassy has to find a way to improve his link up play up top, based on his pass success rate of 70.2% in the German top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the German club will expire in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Man City to sign him on the cheap next year.

Will Guirassy Be A Good Choice For Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola?

Guirassy excels at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create the odd chance for his teammates to find the back of the net and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet.

Standing at 1.87m, the Guinean talent is a strong presence in the air as well. However, the jury is still out on whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if Man City manage to bring him on board next year.

We can expect Guirassy to bring more quality and depth to Pep Guardiola’s first XI. He has what it takes to serve as an ideal back-up to Erling Haaland at the Etihad Stadium. The Guinean forward would also help the Mancunian club compete across all fronts in the coming years.

At 29, Guirassy is enjoying his prime, which makes him a decent choice for Man City to pursue this January or at the end of this season.
