Liverpool Are Facing Stiff Competition For This Juventus Winger: Decent Fit For Slot?

In a recent report on Substack, journalist Simon Phillips mentioned that Liverpool are facing stiff competition for Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz. It has been claimed that the Reds would have to rival Chelsea and Real Madrid in the race to land the Turkish talent next year.

Yildiz’s Impressive Rise In Italian Football

Yildiz has enjoyed a decent campaign at the Turin club as he has produced a handful of productive displays for them in the final third. The Turkish wide player has made 14 appearances for Juventus this season, scoring three goals and grabbing four assists in multiple competitions.

The 20-year-old has caught the eye at times in the final third and deserves credit for averaging 2.73 shots per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has kept 36% of his attempts on target. Yildiz has even distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 78.1% in the Italian top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2029. Hence, Liverpool would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about signing Yildiz next year.

Will Yildiz Be A Good Fit For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot?

Yildiz can engineer some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and has got the vision to create some inviting chances in and around the opponent’s penalty area.

The Turkish sensation is a good dribbler with the ball as well and can contribute by scoring his fair share of goals from the wide areas. Yildiz mainly operates as a left-sided wide player but can also function as a right-winger or play as a striker down the middle if needed. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Reds manage to sign him in 2026.

We can expect him to inject more quality into Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s frontline. He could serve as an ideal successor to Mohamed Salah at the Merseyside club in the long run.

At 20, the future looks quite bright for Yildiz. Therefore, he would be a good fit for the Merseyside club’s needs next year.
