If a recent update from the transfer expert Graeme Bailey (as cited by Leeds United News) is believed to be true, Leeds United are keeping close tabs on Jhon Jhon and have discussed internally whether to step up the chase for the Red Bull Bragantino attacking midfielder in the upcoming January window.
The 23-year-old Selecao star progressed through the academy ranks of Londrina EC and Primavera and also represented the Sao Paulo side in the state league. He was loaned in by Palmeiras, initially for their U20s, before being promoted to the first team in 2023. An impressive Serie A stint earned him a €7.1m transfer to RB Bragantino in July 2024, and the youngster has since netted 15 times and laid on 12 more in 69 appearances for Massa Bruta [stats via Transfermarket].
Leeds United have struggled so far since securing their return to the Premier League. Daniel Farke has maintained his excellent promotion record, but the former Norwich City boss has repeatedly failed to make things work in the top flight. His future at Elland Road could be jeopardised unless the German starts grinding out results after the international break; however, the management must aim for winter reinforcements, particularly in the attacking third, given their lack of firepower so far this campaign.

Why Leeds United Should Snap Up The Brazilian
Leeds brought both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha on Bosman, but the pair have only scored three league goals combined while spearheading the attack. Despite winning the EFL Championship Golden Boot last season, Joel Piroe has found it hard to attune to the standards of Premier League football. Also, injuries to Daniel James, Wilfried Gnonto and the £18m August arrival Noah Okafor have decimated them further down the flanks.
Predominantly a ‘number 10′, Jhon is also comfortable from the left as an inverted winger. His natural dribbling ability and swift footwork would inject the much-needed creative spark. His profile suits Leeds’ system under Farke, who has primarily fielded a 4-3-3 but often switched to a 4-2-3-1 during the games.
Brenden Aaronson has lately impressed from the right amid injuries to first-team stars, but is mostly considered an advanced playmaker. Jhon could play a similar role from the left, as his flexibility would help them script overloads while staging counter-attacking threats. His one-twos, link-up play and through balls could unlock Calvert-Lewin, as the former Everton marksman has largely been isolated up top. The club are weighing up several options, but the flair and finesse of the Brazilian might bring the excitement back in West Yorkshire.
