Barnes Gets 8, Guimaraes With 7 | Newcastle United Players Rated In Hard-Fought Win Vs Manchester City

Newcastle United entertained Manchester City at St. James’ Park earlier this evening as they hoped to earn a good result at home in the Premier League. The Magpies made a solid start to the contest and managed to get to the half-time break with a 0-0 scoreline.

Harvey Barnes gave Newcastle the lead in the 64th minute before Ruben Dias equalised for Man City just four minutes later. Barnes scored again for the home team in the 70th minute as Eddie Howe’s men ended up securing a hard-fought 2-1 win in front of their home fans.

LB: Lewis Hall – 7/10

Hall did his fair share of defending and made two promising runs with the ball.

CM: Bruno Guimaraes – 7/10

He was a positive influence at both ends of the pitch and ended the game with an assist to his name.

CM: Sandro Tonali – 6.5/10

Tonali caught the eye at times with his performance in the middle of the park.

CM: Joelinton – 6.5/10

He came back to defend when he could, but offered very little in the final third.

RW: Jacob Murphy – 7/10

Murphy managed to shine at times on the right flank and made some inviting chances for others around him.

He was a real handful for the Man City centre-backs, but there was no goal for him.
