Barcelona Identify This Experienced Forward As A Target: Should Flick Go For Him?

In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Barcelona have identified Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen as a target. It is believed that the Catalan club are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Nigerian striker.

Osimhen’s Impressive Form In Turkish Football

Osimhen has enjoyed a good run of form for the Turkish club this season as he has put in a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The Nigeria international has banged in nine goals in 12 matches for Galatasaray in this campaign so far across all competitions.

The 26-year-old has proven himself to be a consistent performer in the final third by averaging 4.33 shots per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. He has kept 53.6% of his attempts on target (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Turkish club will run out in the summer of 2029. Hence, Barcelona would have to make a big offer if they want to stand a chance of signing Osimhen next year.

Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Go For Osimhen?

Osimhen can find a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to create the odd chance for his teammates to score and is a powerful runner with the ball.

The Nigeria international can even use his strong 1.86m frame to dominate the opposition defenders in the air. He has proven himself to be a lethal finisher in the final third, so it is no surprise that Barcelona are showing interest in signing him next year.

We can expect Osimhen to enhance the quality of Barca boss Hansi Flick’s frontline. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp. The Nigerian striker could even help the Catalan giants compete for some major silverware over the next few years.

At 26, Osimhen has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for Barcelona to pursue this January or at the end of this campaign. However, the jury is still out on whether he can maintain his good form in La Liga. Still, Flick should focus on going for a striker of his experience and skill set next year.
