Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Barcelona are among the clubs hoping to land Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi. O’Rourke said,
“You’ve got the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona or Real Madrid, Inter Milan all ready and waiting to try and sign Guehi next summer on a free transfer or even on a pre-contract this January.
“That could possibly force Liverpool’s hand into bringing forward this deal early in January.
“Obviously that will be, for Crystal Palace, the best scenario for them as it means they would get some money for Guehi rather than seeing him leave on a free.
“Oliver Glasner doesn’t want to lose Guehi in January, because he’s going to be a hard man to replace.
“But that would mean Palace would get some money for him rather than letting him go for free, so it’s still up in the air with regard to his future.
“So I think it’s one to watch between now and the January transfer window to see if Liverpool do act quickly just to sort of fend off any potential rival interest from those top European clubs.
“And as I said, it will be Palace’s last chance to cash in on him as well.”
Guehi’s Impressive Form In English Football
Guehi has enjoyed an excellent run of form at the London club this season as he has put in a handful of solid performances for them in the Premier League. The English talent has been involved in 19 matches for the Eagles in this campaign so far, scoring one goal and grabbing three assists in all competitions.

The 25-year-old has been a rock at the back for Crystal Palace and has done well to make 23 tackles, four blocks, 13 interceptions and 58 clearances in the Premier League. He has even been careful when distributing possession from inside his half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 85.8% in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).
Will Guehi Be A Good Fit For Barcelona?
Guehi is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when required and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.
We can expect the English sensation to add more bite and steel to Barcelona boss Hansi Flick’s defence. He is more than capable of nailing down a regular first-team spot at the Nou Camp.
At 25, Guehi has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a good fit for the Catalan club’s needs in the long run. Thus, Flick would be wise to go all out to bring him on board next year.
