Arsenal Are Among The Clubs Hoping To Sign This Eredivisie Midfielder: Should Arteta Snap Him Up?

In a recent report, journalist Mark Brus mentioned that Arsenal are among the clubs hoping to sign Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber. It is believed that the Gunners would have to compete with Manchester United and West Ham United in the race to sign the Dutch talent next year.

Timber’s Impressive Form In Dutch Football

Timber has enjoyed a good run of form at the Dutch club in this campaign so far as he has been responsible for producing a series of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The Dutch sensation scored two goals and earned one assist in 14 appearances for Feyenoord this season across all competitions.

The 24-year-old has proven his worth in the middle of the field by making 18 tackles, ten blocks, nine interceptions and 12 clearances in the Dutch Eredivisie. He has even been careful when distributing possession from midfield after completing 83.2% of his attempted passes in the Dutch top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Dutch club will run out at the end of this campaign. Therefore, it makes sense for Arsenal to get a deal done for Timber next year.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Snap Timber Up?

Timber is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and excels at playing his way out from midfield.

The Dutch talent can chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his team. Timber is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also play as a holding midfielder or in the number ten position if told to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.

We can expect Timber to bring more quality and depth to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s midfield. He is good enough to serve as a good rotational piece in the North London club’s squad.

At 24, Timber has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a good choice for the Gunners to pursue next year. Therefore, Arteta should focus on snapping him up and reuniting him with his brother, Jurrien, at the London club.
