Manchester United Identify This Atletico Madrid Midfielder As A Target: Good Option For Amorim?

In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Manchester United have identified Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher as a target. It is understood that the Red Devils are eager to get a deal done for the English talent next year.

Gallagher’s Impressive Form In La Liga

Gallagher has enjoyed a good run of form for Diego Simeone’s side this season as he has put in a handful of solid displays for them in the middle of the park. The English sensation has scored one goal in 13 appearances for Atletico Madrid this season in all competitions.

The 25-year-old has anchored the midfield well and deserves credit for making seven tackles, two blocks, eight interceptions and three clearances in La Liga. He has even distributed the ball accurately from midfield, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 88.1% in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Wanda Metropolitano will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Man United to land him on the cheap next year.

Will Gallagher Be A Good Option For Manchester United?

Gallagher loves a tackle and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The English talent can also shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to engineer some decent chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. Gallagher can contribute by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team. He already knows the Premier League well from his time at Chelsea and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Man United.

Gallagher would no doubt enhance the quality of Ruben Amorim’s midfield. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club in the coming years.

At 25, Gallagher has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent option for the Red Devils to consider this January or at the end of this campaign. Thus, Amorim should focus on stepping up his efforts to land the English midfielder next year.
