Barcelona Are Eyeing A Loan Move For This Experienced Winger: Should Flick Go For Him?

In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Barcelona are eyeing a loan move for Los Angeles FC winger Heung-min Son. It has been mentioned that the Catalan club are eager to secure the services of the South Korean talent on a loan deal next year.

Son’s Impressive Form In Major League Soccer

The 33-year-old has enjoyed a good run of form in Major League Soccer as he has produced a string of impressive displays for Los Angeles FC in the final third. Son has banged in nine goals and picked up three assists in ten appearances for his current employers this season so far on all fronts.

The South Korea international is still performing at a high level in the MLS. Hence, it is no surprise that Barcelona are showing interest in getting a deal done for him this winter.

His current contract at the MLS club will run out at the end of 2027. Thus, it makes sense for the Catalan club to try and sign him on a loan deal next year.

Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Go For Son?

Son remains a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out in the wide areas. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.

The South Korean sensation mainly operates as a left-sided wide player but can also function as a centre-forward if asked to do so by his manager. However, it remains to be seen whether he can maintain his good form in La Liga if Barcelona manage to sign him on loan.

Son would no doubt add more firepower to Barca boss Hansi Flick’s attack. He is good enough to help the Catalan club compete across all competitions in the second half of this campaign. Therefore, Flick would be wise to arrange a loan deal for him this January.

At 33, Son is past his prime but could still help Barcelona in the short term. With all things considered, Hansi Flick should go for a winger of his quality and experience next year.
