Manchester United Remain Keen On Signing This Brighton Midfielder Next Year: Dream Option For Amorim?

In a recent newsletter, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned that Manchester United remain keen on signing Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba. Romano said,

“He’ll stay on Man United list for 2026, for sure, then we will see if they decide to invest big on him or not.”

Baleba’s Good Run Of Form In The Premier League

The Cameroonian talent had an impressive campaign at Brighton as he put in a series of solid displays for them in the middle of the park. Baleba played in 40 matches for the Seagulls last season, netting four goals and picking up a couple of assists in all competitions

The 21-year-old anchored the midfield with conviction for Brighton as he made 79 tackles, 47 blocks, 46 interceptions and 44 clearances for them in the Premier League. He was also accurate with his ball distribution after completing 87.4% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Brighton will run out in the summer of 2028. Thus, it would be tough for Man United to snap him up on the cheap this January or at the end of this season.

Will Baleba Be A Dream Option For Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim?

Baleba loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his side inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer as well. Baleba deserves credit for adding a handful of goals and assists to his game last season.

The Cameroonian sensation is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Man United. He is primarily a holding midfielder but can also perform as a box-to-box midfielder or as a centre-back if told to do so.

Baleba would add a lot of bite and steel to Ruben Amorim’s midfield department. He is good enough to nail down a regular first-team spot at Old Trafford in the coming years.

At 21, the future looks quite promising for the Brighton whizkid. Thus, he would be a dream option for Man United to pursue this January or at the end of this campaign.
