Newcastle United Set To Rival Chelsea For This Borussia Dortmund Winger: Good Signing For Howe?

In a recent report, Bild mentioned that Newcastle United are set to rival Chelsea for Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi. It has been claimed that the Magpies are keeping a keen eye on the German wide player this summer.

Adeyemi’s Impressive Run Of Form In The Bundesliga

Adeyemi enjoyed a decent run of form at the German club in the previous campaign when he produced a series of impressive performances for them in the final third. The 23-year-old registered 12 goals and earned nine assists in 36 matches for Borussia Dortmund last season across all competitions.

The Germany international missed a lot of games for the German club due to a muscle injury. However, he still deserves credit for averaging 2.89 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. Adeyemi kept 39.1% of his attempts on target. He even distributed possession relatively well based on his pass success rate of 74.3% in the German first division (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2027. Thus, Newcastle would have to make a big offer if they are serious about recruiting Ademeyi this off-season.

Will Adeyemi Be A Good Signing For Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe?

Adeyemi is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out in the wide areas. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes on the offensive third of the field.

The German sensation can even strike the ball with venom from long range. He is primarily a right-winger but can also operate as a left-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if required.

Adeyemi would no doubt enhance the quality of Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe’s attack. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Tyneside club next season. The German wing wizard could even go on to form a productive partnership with Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon at St. James’ Park in the coming seasons.

At 23, Adeyemi has his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent signing for the Magpies to pursue in this summer transfer window.
