Tottenham have suffered a very disappointing season and there are plans being made for strengthening the squad in the summer transfer window. Ange Postecoglou, if he stays next season, would like to have significant changes and cover various bases in the squad so that his team can at least fight for the top-four spot next season.
Tottenham are interested in Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher:
Amidst all these, Give Me Sport have reported that Tottenham are interested in Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher. Kelleher has been at the Merseyside club for a long time but always has been a backup to Alisson. He has 18 months remaining in his contract at the club and hence the Reds are looking to sell him in the summer.
Kelleher has conceded 8 goals and kept 3 clean sheets in 8 matches in the Premier League 2024/2025 season. That means when Kelleher is in goal, his team conceded a goal every 90 minutes. Liverpool’s Irish player is a goalkeeper with poise beyond his years. His lightning reflexes and sharp shot-stopping make him a wall between the posts, often bailing out the backline with acrobatic saves.
At 26, the Irishman’s command of the box is growing—confidently claiming crosses and organizing with a cool head. Kelleher’s distribution is standout, launching counters with precise kicks or quick throws. While often Alisson’s understudy, his rare starts—like cup heroics—show a keeper with a big-game mentality. Reliable, composed, and technically gifted, Kelleher has been a quiet assurance in Liverpool’s ranks.
Is it a needed signing?
However, Tottenham signing him looks unlikely because they signed Antonin Kinsky in the recent winter transfer window and already have Guglielmo Vicario as their number-one goalkeeper. Spurs will be sceptical about chasing Caoimhin Kelleher. Reports say Liverpool might offload him with 18 months left on his deal, and he’s class—great reflexes, and solid distribution. But they have got Vicario locked in as their No. 1, and Kinsky’s just joined. Do the club really need another keeper? Kelleher’s stuck behind Alisson, so he’d want starts, not more bench time. Spending big on a backup feels wasteful when Tottenham’s midfield and attack need more bite. Spurs should focus on other areas.
