According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Chelsea are willing to cash in on their goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in the summer. The player is currently on a loan spell to Bournemouth and ideally has no future at Stamford Bridge.
The case of Kepa Arrizabalaga
Kepa Arrizabalaga came through Athletic Bilbao academy and moved to Chelsea in the summer of 2018. Despite spending so many years with the Blues, he could never establish himself as the primary goalkeeper. He has done well here and there but has also been part of controversies.
Arrizabalaga has done decently well with Bournemouth this season. He has featured across 25 games, keeping six clean sheets while leaking 31 goals. He has played his part for the club which eyes a Champions League berth for next season.
The Spanish shot-stopper is well-known for his comfort on the ball and incredible distribution skills. He has strong hands and quick reflexes to block shots. He has also got good reach though he needs to improve in certain areas.
Bournemouth are satisfied with Kepa Arrizabalaga
Chelsea have made up their mind of offloading Kepa Arrizabalaga if any reasonable offer arrives. The club doesn’t see him in the scheme of plans and would like to extract some cash. However, it will highly depend on whether any club will make a move for him or not.
For now, it seems like Bournemouth might prefer making Arrizabalaga’s transfer permanent in the summer. The 30-year-old has done decently well for them and they would like to keep him at their disposal for a long time.
Though Chelsea won’t be able to book a profit on the sell given their high investment on the player, they can certainly free up some space in their group. It will allow them to invest money in another talent who can help them for many years to come.
