According to Fichajes, Arsenal are preparing a €60 million offer for Barcelona defender Jules Kounde in a bold move. The Premier League club want to bring the player in the summer to bolster their defensive unit for next season.
Jules Kounde is a proven performer
Jules Kounde arrived at Barcelona in the summer of 2022 from Sevilla. He had a slow start at his new home but he managed to establish himself with opportunities. At present, he is a regular starter and a solid performer for the Spanish club.
Kounde has played relentlessly in the ongoing campaign. He has featured across 41 games, netting thrice and providing eight assists. He is averaging 1.8 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, and 2.2 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The French defender is versatile enough to play as a right-back or a centre-back. He has good physicality, decent pace, and reads the game well. In recent times, he has also developed his attacking instincts and link-up playing abilities.
Will Barcelona offload Jules Kounde?
Though Arsenal will look to strengthen their offensive line on priority, they will not shy away from making defensive reinforcements as well. Mikel Arteta is a big admirer of Jules Kounde and wants to add him at his disposal.
Though the Spanish outfit considers Kounde an integral part of the squad, their financial condition might tempt them to cash in on the player. Barcelona value the player around €70 million but might agree if the Gunners approach with a €60 million offer.
