According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester United are interested in signing RB Leipzig defensive sensation Castello Lukeba next summer. The Premier League club are even preparing an offer worth €50 million to acquire his services.
Castello Lukeba has been impressive so far
Castello Lukeba came through Lyon and joined RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023. In a short time, he has not only managed to impress everyone but also established himself as one of the best young centre-backs across Europe.
Lukeba has featured in 19 games in the ongoing campaign so far. He is averaging 1.5 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, and 3.5 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The French defender is intelligent when it comes to positioning and does timely tackles. He is comfortable on the ball and possesses accurate passing abilities. He also has a good pace to cover up the spaces and likes to stay close to the attackers.
Manchester United need a better defensive line
Manchester United tried to address their defensive woes by adding Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro to their rank. But the additions haven’t changed much for them as they still have problems in the backline. Hence, they need to strengthen it if they wish to compete for titles.
The Red Devils are impressed with Castello Lukeba’s progress and want to bring him next summer. They believe the youngster has all the qualities to succeed at the Old Trafford. He is likely to improve further with more experience and guidance.
The 22-year-old is a left footed defender who can fit in well in Ruben Amorim‘s system. While Manchester United are preparing an official bid for him, interest from a few other clubs also lies. One of the major clubs that are keeping tabs on him is Real Madrid as the Spanish outfit are also in search of a centre-back.
