Manchester United want to sign Jamie Gittens
Gittens is currently one of the best young English players and certainly one to watch out for in future. He spent his youth years at Reading FC and Manchester City. Dortmund signed him in the summer of 2020 and he has also featured in the youth academy in Dortmund.
The player has developed and grown in stature in the last three years since making his debut in the senior team of Dortmund at the fag end of the 2021/22 season. He has scored 11 goals and also provided 16 assists in the 26 matches that he has played for the club. Gittens’ skills and performances have attracted him to many clubs, and Manchester United lead the race.
Will he be a good signing for the Red Devils?
There is no certainty regarding the future of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Antony. Rashford has been dropped from the squad for over a month, and rumours have started to creep in about the other two players that they are going to depart in the summer. Hence, Ruben Amorim wants some attacking signings, and the 20-year-old is being looked at as one of the best prospects to sign for the Old Trafford club.
Gittens’s goals scored per 90 minutes is 0.52. Moreover, his total G/A (goals + assists) is 10 for this season. The 20-year-old’s goal involvement equates to 0.74 per 90 minutes. His Non-Penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.51. This puts Jamie Bynoe Gittens’s npxG output at 6.39, which puts him in the top 94 percentile of Bundesliga players.
United will need to spend a fortune to sign the 20-year-old. He has quality and age on his side. Hence, Dortmund are sure to charge a good amount of transfer fee in order to sell him to United. However, the German club will have a tough time retaining the young and talented whizkid if they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. It remains to be seen what happens with the future of the 20-year-old player.
