According to a report from Norba Online, Manchester United are close to signing Leece‘s talented kid Patrick Dorgu. The youngster would be the first signing under Ruben Amorim as he looks to strengthen the left side of his team.
Who is Patrick Dorgu?
Patrick Dorgu is a highly rated talent who made his way through Leece Academy. He made his senior team debut in 2023 and has been on a rising spree since then. He has already established himself as a mainstay in the squad.
Dorgu has featured across 23 games in the ongoing campaign so far, netting thrice and assisting once. He is averaging 1.5 shots, 0.8 key passes, and 0.6 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Denmark international is versatile enough to play on either wing and even as a full-back or a winger. He is technically sound, provides good passes, and is clinical with his finishes. He is also effective in tackling, and blocking the shoots, and marks a notable aerial presence.
Patrick Dorgu is a good deal for the English outfit
Manchester United’s pursuit of Patrick Dorgu makes sense as they needed a new name for the left-back role. Ruben Amorim doesn’t trust Tyrell Malacia and with the recurring injuries to Luke Shaw, the club had to find a solution.
Dorgu can be a valuable addition as his qualities can help the Red Devils transform themselves. His aggressive play of style will suit well in Amorim’s system. He is expected to improve with more game-time and proper guidance, making him an ideal long-term investment.
While Leece would’ve liked to keep hold of the youngster for the second half of the season, the player’s eagerness to join Old Trafford helped in formulating a deal. Reportedly, Manchester United will have to shell out €35 million fixed plus another €5 million in bonuses.
