Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester City have been keeping tabs on Juma Bah and are very close to securing his signature. Pep Guardiola’s side have closed in on four deals in the ongoing January transfer window and now are nearing the signing of Bah.
Manchester City are close to signing Juma Bah
Guardiola and his side have reportedly had a verbal agreement with the player in the ongoing window and won’t play him straightway in the first XI. They will send him on loan to RC Lens for further development and consistent game time in that club.
Bah has been consistently putting on good performances at Real Valladolid in Spain, and his performances have brought him to the wishlist of many prominent clubs in Europe. He is widely regarded as one of the best young players in La Liga and certainly, one to watch out for in the future.
Bah is a defender who has appeared in 12 matches this season in La Liga, playing a total of 865 minutes. Abdulai Juma Bah concedes an average of 1.56 goals for every 90 minutes that the player is on the pitch. Their Clean Sheets ratio is currently at 25%. That means Abdulai Juma Bah has kept a clean sheet in three matches out of the 12 that the player has played in.
Is it a good deal for Pep Guardiola’s side?
His performances have brought him on the radar of Manchester City. Abdukodir Khusanov has already joined the defending Premier League champions, and Vitor Reis is close to joining the club. So, it is not clear how Guardiola can give minutes to Bah. Romano has stated that City will sign the 18-year-old from the Spanish club instead of AIK Freetong.
City have a good professional relationship with RC Lens after the signing of Khusanov. Hence, they will buy Bah and loan him out to the Ligue 1 club for further development. It remains to be seen what happens to the future of the player. It is a good deal for the reigning Premier League champions given that they will get a player of the quality and age of Bag. However, he certainly won’t fit into the immediate scheme of things.
