According to Football Transfers, Arsenal recently established contact with the representatives of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha. The Premier League club are keen on signing the attacker in the ongoing winter window.
Matheus Cunha is enjoying the Premier League
After a failed move to Atletico Madrid, Matheus Cunha joined Wolves in the January window of 2023. Since then, he has climbed up the ladders pretty quickly, establishing himself as one of the best attackers in the Premier League.
Cunha is enjoying a great time in the 2024-25 season as he has already netted 10 goals and provided four assists in 22 games so far. He is averaging 2.9 shots, 1.6 key passes, and 1.8 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Brazilian attacker is extremely versatile as he can be deployed at different positions in the lineup. He can dribble, provide key passes, hold the ball, or take long shots. He is clinical with his finishing and dominant in aerial duels.
Matheus Cunha is willing to leave Wolves
Arsenal’s interest in Matheus Cunha is understandable as Bukayo Saka is sidelined for a substantial time while Gabriel Jesus will remain out of the action for the rest of the season. On the other hand, the dip in the form of Kai Havertz has made things worse.
Hence, the Gunners are in the market actively looking to reinforce their attacking line. They are currently exploring the opportunity to bring Matheus Cunha. The Wolves striker can solve a lot of problems for Mikel Arteta‘s side and help them achieve their targets.
However, Wolves will not let the player leave so easily, especially in the middle of the season. As per reports, they want around £70 million to sanction the move. However, Arsenal isn’t willing to pay more than £45m to acquire the services of the 25-year-old.
