According to a report from Real Madrid Exclusivo, West Ham United are leading the race for Lyon‘s Rayan Cherki after Real Madrid decided against signing the talented youngster. The deal could be done for a price of around €30 million.
Rayan Cherki is a promising talent
Rayan Cherki has been a part of Lyon since 2010 and is a consistent performer. He was always rated highly within the club and made his senior team debut in 2020. Since then, he has climbed up the ladders pretty quickly and has established himself well.
Cherki is showing promising signs even in the ongoing campaign. He has already netted three goals and provided as many assists in 13 games. He is averaging 1.8 shots, 2.4 key passes, and 2.8 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Frenchman is versatile enough to play as an attacking midfielder or operate on either wing. He is known for his incredible skills on the ball. He provides the creative element in the final third with his passing, dribbling and shooting abilities.
Rayan Cherki can be a great signing
West Ham United are lacking the firepower they need to score goals consistently. Hence, their interest in Rayan Cherki makes sense as the youngster has an extraordinary skill set. He can be a good addition, who can help in the creation of the goals in the final third.
Cherki is already showing a high level of performance at a young age. With more experience under his belt, he is only going to get better and better. He can be a long-term signing for the Hammers should they manage to bring him to the club.
Earlier Real Madrid were also interested in signing the 21-year-old. However, as they already have enough talent in the squad, the Spanish club have decided to cool their interest. This development gives West Ham United a favourable condition to acquire the services of the youngster. And we think, for the right price, West Ham United should get the deal done.
