According to a report from TBR, West Ham United are keen on signing Manchester City attacking sensation James McAtee. The youngster is frustrated with the lack of game-time and has already expressed his will to leave the Etihad Stadium.
James McAtee isn’t getting enough game time
James McAtee came through the Manchester City Academy and worked hard to climb up the ladders. He has had two impressive loan spells to Sheffield United. But that hasn’t helped him much in establishing himself as a mainstay since debuting in 2021.
McAtee expected to get decent minutes in the ongoing campaign but that hasn’t been the case. He has got to feature only in nine games so far, combining around 350 minutes. In these many minutes, he has managed to find the back of the net once.
The English attacker is versatile to play on the wings, or as an attacking midfielder. He has got good control over the ball and possess creative mind. With dribbling, accurate passing, and through balls, he adds a lot of value in the final third.
West Ham United need more creativity
West Ham United need more firepower in the offensive front to win battles. They are eager to bring James McAtee in the January window as the player can help the club make a sounding return in the second half of the season and position better on the points table.
As McAtee has already expressed his will to leave his boyhood club to find game-time, Pep Guardiola is unlikely to stand in his way. A reasonable offer from any club should be enough for the Citizens to sanction the move.
The 22-year-old is rated highly and can be a valuable pick going forward. From the player’s perspective as well, he needs to play regularly to continue developing his game at this stage of his career.
