A recent report from SPORT via Sport Witness has stated that Christopher Nkuku is unhappy with his position at Chelsea and wants to part ways with the club. He wants to move to a high-profile club where he will get ample game time. His agent has offered him to Barcelona.
Christopher Nkunku wants to move away from Chelsea due to less game time
Chelsea signed Nkunku in the summer transfer window of 2023 for a high-profile transfer value. His spectacular performances at RB Leipzig had attracted the attention of the club from Stamford Bridge. He did not have a good campaign in the first season as he suffered from injury issues and missed much of the season.
However, he has come back strongly in the ongoing 2024/25 season. Nkunku has played 25 matches in all competitions so far, has scored 12 goals, and provided four assists. He is a versatile player who can play across any position in the attacking position.
Nkunku is not happy with the fact that he is not getting ample game time this season under Enzo Maresca and has started just two games in the Premier League so far this season for Chelsea. He has a contract at the club till the summer of 2029 but has made up his mind that he wants to change clubs to get regular playtime.
Nkunku wants a big club as well as a place where he can play week in and week out. His agent is Pini Zahavi, who maintains a good relationship with Barcelona President Joan Laporta and wants Barca to make a move for his signature.
The 27-year-old is also ready to reduce his wages just to play at Barcelona, and Hansi Flick will also get a versatile player who can play across any position in the attack for his team. However, Barca can’t sign him in January due to their tough financial conditions.
Opinion:
Now that Nkunku desperately wants a move away from Stamford Bridge, Pini Zahavi needs to find a club that will make a move for the player. However, all in all, it is in the best interest of the player to move to a different club where he will get ample game time. Chelsea will also hope to earn profits from a player whom Maresca barely uses. It remains to be seen what happens to the future of Nkunku. However, it is clear that his future is not secure at Stamford Bridge. Barcelona will get a good profile from his signing, but they can’t afford him in January.
