According to Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur have their eyes set on Rayo Vallecano fullback Andrei Ratiu ahead of the January window. The Premier League club see him as a potential replacement for Pedro Porro, who has interest from multiple clubs.
The journey of Andrei Ratiu
Andrei Ratui started his career at Villarreal but moved to Huesca in the summer of 2021. After a couple of seasons there, he got the opportunity to come back to Spain when Rayo Vallecano decided to sign him on a five-year term.
Since joining the Spanish club, Ratui has been climbing up the ladders slowly. He featured in 16 games last season and found the back of the net once. He averaged 0.8 shots, 0.5 key passes, and 1.1 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Romanian right-back is an aggressive-minded player who likes to go higher on the pitch. He has great dribbling abilities and puts great crosses into the box. He is also solid in the defensive aspects even though he has areas to improve.
Perdo Porro has generated good interest
Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new right-back is understandable as Pedro Porro has interest from multiple clubs. While Real Madrid has made the player a backup target if they fail to get Trent Alexander-Arnold, arch-rivals Manchester City have also expressed interest.
Spurs have put a £80 million price tag on their star defender but it remains to be seen if any club is willing to offer that much or not. Whatever happens, the English club want to remain prepared for all the scenarios and hence, their interest in Andrei Ratiu.
The 26-year-old has shown promising glimpses in Spain and he might be ready to do well in the Premier League. Though he still has room to improve, he can work on them as he gets more experience and game time. His release clause is €25 million, which shouldn’t be a problem for Tottenham Hotspur.
