As reported by Football Fancast, Real Madrid are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. The Spanish club are even ready to offer Aurelien Tchouameni in exchange for bringing the Argentine World Cup winner next summer.
Enzo Fernandez has to do more
Enzo Fernandez started his career at River Plate before moving to Benfica in the summer of 2022. Following his impressive World Cup 2022 performance, Chelsea decided to sign him for a record-breaking fee in the January window of 2023.
Logically there were high expectations from Fernandez which he has somehow failed to deliver. He featured in 40 games last season, netting seven goals and providing three assists. He averaged 1.8 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, and 0.9 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The Argentine is versatile to don different roles in the midfield. He is known for his aggressive style of pressing and creating threats up front. He has a good passing range, does neat work in small spaces, and can score from a distance.
Real Madrid aren’t convinced with Aurelien Tchouameni
Recently reports emerged that Real Madrid are unhappy with Aurelien Tchouameni‘s progress. They believe he lacks the qualities to play in the midfield and hence, they are willing to offload him.
To replace him the Whites have identified Enzo Fernandez as a viable target. The Argentine has ample experience and high qualities. He can do the defensive work in the midfield and also contribute to the offensive part directly.
Interestingly, Fernandez hasn’t settled in well at Stamford Bridge so far. While he has done decent enough, all expect more from him especially considering his market value. Hence, a move to Spain couldn’t be ruled out completely.
The Blues rates the 23-year-old highly and to make his signing feasible, Real Madrid are willing to offer Tchouameni in return. It will surely help them bring down the price drastically and make the signing even more practical.
