According to Football Insider, Manchester United have decided against selling their summer signing Joshua Zirkzee. The Premier League club plans to give the striker enough time to prove himself under the new manager Ruben Amorim.
Joshua Zirkzee is struggling badly
Joshua Zirkzee arrived at Manchester United from Bologna in the summer window. While he showed promising signs in the initial games, he has gradually fallen down the pack in recent weeks. His form has dried up drastically and the player is struggling to make any impact.
Zirkzee has managed to find the back of the net only once in 17 games. Sitting with only two assists, he has failed to do enough for the team in the final third. He is averaging 1.1 shots, 0.6 interceptions, and 0.4 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Dutch attacker is known for his physicality, agility, dribbling skills and aerial dominance. He can exploit the spaces and also links up pretty well. He is an intelligent player overall but he is failing to showcase that on the pitch at times.
Joshua Zirkzee will try to give a fresh start
Addressing the last season’s shortcoming, Manchester United brought Joshua Zirkzee to compete with Rasmus Hojlund. However, the decision hasn’t been fruitful as far as the former striker has failed to establish himself despite the latter’s injuries.
Pressure is mounting over Zirkzee to prove himself with each day passing. Recent reports emerged that the Red Devils are willing to offload the Dutchman in the January window. However, the latest reports decline such rumours and indicate otherwise.
Manchester United is ready to give Zirkzee enough time to adapt and showcase his talent. The club is expecting their new manager Ruben Amorim to extract the best of the 23-year-old. If this doesn’t work out then only the management will try to sell him.
