According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United are interested in signing Barcelona’s Marc Casado next summer. The Premier League club believe the youngster could be a good long-term replacement for Casemiro.
Marc Casado’s rise is impressive
Marc Casado is a La Masia product who made his senior team debut in 2022. He served as the skipper of the Barcelona B team last year. But the ongoing campaign has been the real breakthrough season where he is starting regularly for the first team.
Casado’s inclusion became necessary following an ACL injury to Marc Bernal. The former has already featured in 13 games and provided five assists. He is averaging 2.2 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, and 1.1 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The Spanish defensive midfielder is extremely good at retaining the ball and distributing. He offers a high work rate and his positioning is also brilliant most of the time. Apart from the defensive aspects, he has also the ability to provide line-breaking passes.
Marc Casado is already hitting the ground
Manchester United’s interest in Marc Casado isn’t surprising news to be honest. They already need a long-term replacement for Casemiro, who is past his prime. Though the club signed Manuel Ugarte in the summer window, the signing hasn’t been fruitful so far.
Ugarte has struggled to impress whenever he took onto the field donning the United jersey. While the English giant would want to evaluate his quality by the end of the season, they won’t mind going after another signing.
The Red Devils reportedly want to sign Marc Casado as he has all the qualities to succeed in the English league. His technical abilities, passing range, and defensive traits are too good. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that it’s only his first season and he is already ruling the position.
Hence, Manchester United might arrive with a lucrative offer for the 21-year-old at Barcelona’s desk. It will be interesting to see if the Spanish club will let him go or not.
