According to Caught Offside, Manchester United are eyeing to strengthen the left-back position in the January window. The Premier League club have the likes of Ben Chilwell and Alvaro Carreras as their potential targets to get the job done.
Ben Chilwell and Alvaro Carreras are the options
Ben Chilwell‘s future at Stamford Bridge continues to remain under the radar. The defender is not in Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca’s plan and he will probably vow for a departure. While there are ongoing talks with multiple clubs, no significant progress has been made so far.
On the other hand, Alvaro Carreras is plying his trade at Benfica. He represented the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United earlier. Reportedly, the latter club have a buy-back clause, which they might consider activating.
New era under Ruben Amorim
Manchester United are set to start a new era under the guidance of Ruben Amorim. The ex-Sporting CP manager will take charge at the club post the ongoing international break.
One of the areas the Portuguese manager wants to strengthen is the left-back position. Though the Red Devils already have the likes of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia for the concerned role, their continuous injury concerns aren’t doing any good to them.
Manchester United will surely need a more consistent name going forward if they wish to turn into a winning side. They have identified the likes of Ben Chilwell and Alvaro Carreras to target in the January window. However, it will be interesting to see if they can execute any of these two deals or not.
On the other part of the plans, the English giant might make Casemiro available for £30m in the winter window.
