According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester City are interested in signing Valencia’s young centre-back Cristhian Mosquera in the 2025 summer transfer window as the Premier League club are considering bolstering their defensive line.
Cristhian Mosquera is rising and shining
Cristhian Mosquera came through the Valencia Academy and got an opportunity to feature for the senior side in 2023. Since then, he hasn’t looked back and has been a key member of the squad. He has emerged as an exciting talent for the club.
Mosquera is already a regular starter for the Spanish club. Last season he featured in 38 games and averaged 1.6 tackles, 1 interception, and 3.6 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The Spanish defender plays as a centre-back but can also feature as a full-back. He is technically sound, reads the game pretty well and intercepts threats intelligently. He is quick, physically sound, and comfortable with the ball at his feet.
Cristhian Mosquera has big clubs interested in him
Manchester City have been struggled in the defensive structure this season so far. They have been leaking goals which are affecting their overall performance. Hence, the need to improve the defensive line is the need of the hour.
While there is no urgency to bring someone in the winter window, the Citizens can set up plans for the next summer. They already have expressed their interest in Cristhian Mosquera, who has done pretty well in his short career so far.
The future of Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake at Etihad Stadium is under the radar. Hence, Mosquera’s arrival can solve a lot of problems. Moreover, he can be a long-term investment for the English giant. It will cost around €30 million.
The price shouldn’t be a problem for Manchester City but the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool are also present in the race for the 20-year-old.
