In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Arsenal are ready to move in for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. It has been stated that the Gunners are eager to get a deal done for the Swedish forward next year.
Isak’s Decent Form In The Premier League This Season
Isak has caught the eye at times with his performances as the focal point of Newcastle’s attack during this campaign. The Swedish forward has banged in two goals and grabbed one assist in eight matches for the Magpies this season in all competitions.
The 25-year-old has led the line well for the Magpies and deserves credit for averaging 3.0 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per game in the Premier League. However, he needs to find a way to improve his link-up play up top after completing just 71.4% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Tyneside club will run out in the summer of 2028. Hence, Arsenal would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about signing Isak next year.
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Go For Isak?
Isak can engineer some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can be a decent goal-getter up top and has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. Standing at 1.92m, Isak can be a dominant force in the air.
The Swedish talent is a good dribbler with the ball as well. He has already proven his worth as a reliable goal-scorer in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Arsenal.
Isak would enhance the quality of Mikel Arteta’s frontline. He has what it takes to nail down a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium in the future. Therefore, the Gunners would be wise to go for a forward of his quality in 2025.
At 25, Isak will only improve with each season which makes him a decent choice for the North London club to consider this January or at the end of this season. He might even help Arsenal compete for some major honours over the next few years.
