Aston Villa will lock horns with Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Sunday afternoon as they hope to secure a good result away from home in the Premier League. The Villans suffered a poor 2-1 loss at the hands of Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup recently, so they would be eager to bounce back with a victory this weekend.
Unai Emery will opt for the 4-4-1-1 formation and could be inclined to revert to his strongest XI for this game. The West Midlands club has got no new injury concerns to cope with right now, so Ollie Watkins will once again lead the line for them up top.
4-4-1-1 Aston Villa Predicted Lineup To Face Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Emiliano Martinez will play in between the sticks for the Villans after being rested in midweek. Ezri Konsa will get the nod to play alongside Pau Torres as they try to keep things tidy on the defensive end of the field.
Matty Cash will try to prove his worth as the right-back while Lucas Digne looks to catch the eye on the other side as the left-back. Both of them need to perform their defensive duties before attempting to offer some support to their teammates up top.
Diego Carlos will provide cover for the centre-back positions on the bench.
Midfield
Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana will fill in as the defensive midfielders as they try to make life difficult for the home side in the middle of the park. Jacob Ramsey could get an opportunity to shine on the left flank while John McGinn hopes to put in a hard-working performance on the right wing. Both of them will have to find a way to get in behind the opposition backline so that they can deliver some decent crosses from the wide areas.
Morgan Rogers will play in the number ten position. He would have to carry most of the creative burden for the Midlands club in the final third.
Boubacar Kamara and Emi Buendia will have to settle for a place on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if Emery decides to call upon their services.
Attack
Ollie Watkins will spearhead Aston Villa’s attack up top. He has to find a way to cause some headaches for the Tottenham centre-backs this weekend.
Jhon Duran will be named on the bench as he awaits his chance to make an impact in the latter stages of the game if required.
