In a recent report, Milan Live mentioned that West Ham United could be offered a chance to land AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek. It has been stated that the Hammers could bring the English talent back to England if they are willing to send Edson Alvarez in the other direction.
Loftus-Cheek’s Impressive Form In Serie A
Loftus-Cheek has made a decent start to this campaign as he has put in a few impressive displays for the Milan outfit at the centre of the park. The 28-year-old has been involved in eight matches for AC Milan this season in various competitions.
The London-born talent has given a good account of himself in the middle of the field based on his average of 1.2 tackles, 0.7 clearances, 0.7 shots, 1.2 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He was even tidy when distributing the ball from midfield, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 91.9% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, West Ham would have no choice but to meet AC Milan’s demands if they want to sign their prized asset next year.
Should West Ham United Boss Julen Lopetegui Go For Loftus-Cheek?
Loftus-Cheek is a good tackler of the ball and usually clears the danger when required. He can strike the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to engineer a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third.
The English sensation is a good dribbler with the ball as well. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also play in the number ten position or as a defensive midfielder if told to do so.
Loftus-Cheek has got some experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at the East London club. Therefore, it makes sense for West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui to go for a player of his quality next year.
At 28, Loftus-Cheek is playing in his prime which makes him a decent option for the Hammers to pursue this January or at the end of this season. He will also help West Ham compete across all fronts in the future.
